BRIEF
At just 50 m2, this small restaurant in Badalona is full of life. The warm, familiar service of Inma and Jonathan — the duo behind this beloved neighborhood spot — has turned it into a gathering place for locals and friends alike. It’s a calm, unpretentious space where Mediterranean cuisine is prepared with care, honesty, and a genuine respect for the ingredients.
To align the restaurant’s image with the culinary experience it already offers, a full branding and interior design overhaul was undertaken. A project conceived to bring coherence and visibility to everything this neighborhood restaurant already represents.
CONCEPT
La Trobada, Catalan for “the meeting point,” is a tribute to Mediterranean life — shaped by the sea, the warmth, and the joy of shared moments. From the start, the design aimed to reflect that characteristic Mediterranean caliu, hand in hand with the honest, heartfelt cooking of Jonathan and Inma.
STRATEGY
Although compact in size, the restaurant is linked to a spacious terrace that hosts most of its clientele. This particular layout made the flow between kitchen, interior, and terrace one of the main design challenges. Another key aspect to work within the space was storage and organization — essential in any space, but even more so when working with limited square footage.
To improve flow and optimize the interior-exterior dynamic, the kitchen was reorganized with minimal yet essential adjustments to the layout of cooking, prep, and cleaning zones. Thus, specific areas were designated for each function, including a dedicated station for the waitstaff. This reorganization was complemented by replacing the entrance door with a commercial glass sliding door, enhancing circulation and freeing up space for the dining area.
